Test and Service

Food sensitivity testing

There are two main ways of tackling these problems. The first involves removing all offending foods in one foul swoop and then waiting a month before reintroducing them.

The second method is more suitable when there are multiple sensitivities that require the gradual reduction and elimination of the suspect foods from the diet.

If, during this process, you have difficulties or are unable to find suitable alternative foods, recipes can be obtained from  www.tailormadediet.co.uk

Understanding

Food Intolerance Cornwall can help you to understand exactly what effect the foods you eat are having on your body.

The test

The consultation may reveal multiple food sensitivities. During the course of the appointment, we will determine possible causes of your discomfort and remove them from your diet. These will then be reintroduced over a sensible time scale allowing us to pinpoint the food you may be intolerant to.

Common food sensitivities

The most commonly found food sensitivities are wheat, dairy products, yeast, sugar, chocolate, tea, citrus fruits and coffee.

It can be quite difficult to realise that the foods that you consume and enjoy on a daily basis can be the ones causing harm.

As your body is continually bombarded with the same kinds of processed foods it is placed under great physical stress.

Under this stress your body can become short of water and increase the production of histamine.

This leads to the food sensitivity that you may suffer from.

Our role is to use our knowledge, a non medical tool, and a skill base to find out why you have a different energetic response to different foods.  We cannot diagnose or treat a disease.

Food intolerance testing FAQs

If you have any questions regarding food sensitivity testing, they may be answered below.

Over 120 substances which include common foods and drinks are looked at during our consultation. The test is completely painless and is best described as like a ballpoint pen touching the back of your finger upon an acupressure point.

An appointment generally takes 30 minutes.

The appointment costs just £45 for a weekday appointment between 9am-5pm, £55 from 5pm or weekends.

The appointment is suitable for anyone, other than those with a pacemaker, and is also suitable for any aged child subject to them being on solid foods. If you are taking prescribed medication, this will not interfere with the method.

This is dependent on the individual, but one appointment is usually sufficient. It is generally advisable, however, that if you have any questions regarding your elimination programme, that you contact us during normal work hours.

This will depend on whether your body can tolerate the food once it has been reintroduced into your diet after the initial 4 week programme. In some circumstances this period will have to be extended.
